Elizabeth Halka was born and raised in Peterborough. She received her BA (Fine Arts) from the University of Waterloo. After travelling and residing for several years in New Zealand, Elizabeth returned to Canada in 1992 and obtained her LL.B. from the University of Alberta in 1996. While a student at the University of Alberta Elizabeth was a first prize recipient in the William Morris Essay Contest and is published in the Alberta Law Review. She articled in Peterborough and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998. Elizabeth has practiced law in Peterborough since 1999, first as an associate lawyer with another firm and later as a sole practitioner. She became a partner with LBGH in January 2014. Elizabeth’s practice focuses primarily on family law, estate planning and administration and real estate. She has also recently trained as a collaborative family law practitioner.
